According to our right to equality given by Indian constitution, Any Indian citizen who is between the age of 21 and 32 ( note: there are age relaxations for different categories ), who possess any degree (either it be a doctor or an arts graduate)  is eligible to write the civil services examination. This single examination enables a student to pursue 24 services.

This examination consist of two successive stages :

1. Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination - Objective Type
2. Civil Services (Main) Examination

Syllabus :

1. PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION: 

# The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each. 

# Each will be of two hours duration. 

# Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) 

# The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.  ( i.e, 66 marks )
